Description

Redraw of an old character. I had fun with this. Have to do this more haha. I always make the same mistake though when I do stuff like this. I always draw the fore-ground part first, which is not ok because then it's harder to color the stuff in the bg without messing up what's already done in the front unless I make another layer, which I am trying to avoid in these situations!
Anyways, good practice is good.

The detail is absolutely incredible, especially the scaling on the face and just around the area the eye is interesting to study. With the contrast of the brightness of the eye against the darker color, my eye instantly jumped to that point and then easily followed the lines through the rest of the piece. It is excellently streamlined to give that direction and doesn't confuse the eye with excess focus, though the subtle addition of highlights along the ridges, neck, and claw peak interest all over again and unconsciously guide the eye along a new, smooth line with ease. The subtlety of the detailing in the hand/paw(?) really encourages focus to that area without distraction from the whole piece.

As a whole, the piece strikes with a wow factor with its intensity of appearance. The composition is incredible and the piece is easy to look at and engaging with the details that are interesting enough on their own to study for a good period of
time.

The expression is so well displayed too, this feels like a moving piece with a breathing subject.
